“Always Accept” - better than auto-accept.

For those of you who don’t know, Pidgin is the new Gaim.

It’s an instant messenger which lets you have as many screen names as you like on all the different services under the sun. I have 2 MSNs, 6 AIMs, a Yahoo and an ICQ in mine…

Anyway, the one thing which annoys me about it is that it doesn’t have a “proper” auto-accept function like AIM does: you can’t set it to accept all files from anyone, which is the only real way to do anything on the internet.

So, I wrote my own plugin (ok ok I butchered the one that’s already there) and here it is. Download this and put it in your plugins folder. Then activate the “alwaysaccept” plugin (make sure not to activate the “autoaccept” plugin as well!).

For those of a coding bent, here’s the patch for builing it yourself (and so you know I haven’t just given you a virus). You can find instructions for building it yourself on windows here. Make a copy of libpurple/plugins/autoaccept.c and call it alwaysaccept.c, then apply the patch.

Tested with Pidgin 2.2.1 (latest at time of writing) and works fine!
